Nah, same brushes I use all the time, just a different approach to how I organize layers and blending modes :D

[Reductive Charcoal Mannequin Study]

well I must say you really did a great job with this. I did stuff like this in my class too, but it was always very challenging get every Crease and wrinkle in the fabric, figure out which need a little bit of shading and which parts need darker shading. I also remember drawing the Mannequins too which was a little easier but still you need to know anatomy well. But putting these two together and managing to pull it off so well. I really hope you got an A in that class.

Funny story, I only ended up with a C+ in the course because I skipped class a lot. I think I missed almost half of the total days and my unexcused absences ended up affecting my grade, even though I absolutely adored the subject matter (drawing). I'm a bad student. lol

great job Cooli, this looks realistic, You got every detail perfect with the water, and the CLouds and sun reflecting off the water, the clouds and sun. Love how you made the ocean have that sparkly look to it. I can tell you worked hard on this. It's already looks like you're a expert at 3D, it's great you're trying new things out man. I hope to start see work like this, you're pretty good.

Draw everyday for 5-7 hours from posemaniacs and quickposes.com. Google "10000 hours of practice rule". Watch Sycra channel on youtube, he has very cool thoughts about the art. Learn something new everyday. Master your drawing skills before painting skills. Master your basics. And most important - put BIG INSPIRING GOAL for yourself and pursue it for months and months. No jokes.

Basically, that's it. Long road, but totally worth it. I started with zero skills and no talent, and here I am now.
